More Than an Ingredient: Knowing the People Behind What We Make

More Than an Ingredient: Knowing the People Behind What We Make

At Kinwell Roots, we believe that what goes into a product matters. But just as important is knowing where those ingredients come from and who the people behind them are.

One of the things we are most grateful for is our relationship with the Cooper family that supplies much of the grass-fed suet we use in our products. This isn't a transaction between strangers. It's a partnership built on shared values, mutual respect, and trust.

When we visit the farm, we don't just see cattle in a field. We see a family that works long days caring for their animals and stewarding their land. We see generations of knowledge, commitment, and hard work. We see people who deeply care about the quality of the food they provide and the legacy they are building.

There is something special about knowing the cows they lovingly raise provide nourishment for families through grass-fed beef, while the suet finds a second purpose in thoughtfully crafted skincare.

It's a full-circle moment.

The same family that raises the cattle trusts us to transform that suet into products they feel comfortable using on their own family. That trust is something we do not take lightly.

In many ways, our businesses reflect one another. Their work begins long before ours does. They invest countless hours caring for animals, managing pastures, and producing high-quality beef. Our work continues that journey as we slowly render, purify, and formulate the grass-fed suet into tallow products designed to nourish and care for your skin.

Both processes require patience.

Both require attention to detail.

Both require a commitment to quality over convenience.

Most importantly, both require trust.

There is an understanding among family-owned businesses that isn't always easy to explain. We know the sacrifices. We know the early mornings, the late nights, and the countless decisions that happen behind the scenes. We know what it means to put your name on something and stand behind it.

That creates a level of accountability and honor that goes beyond a supplier relationship.

When we say we know where our ingredients come from, we truly mean it. We know the people. We know their values. We know how they care for their animals. We know the pride they take in their work. We drive by their farm multiple times each weekend.

And they know us.

They know the care that goes into every batch we create. They know we are committed to honoring the ingredient they worked so hard to produce. They know we are creating products that we use on our own families as well.

In a world where supply chains can feel anonymous and disconnected, we are thankful for relationships that bring people closer together.

Because at the end of the day, Kinwell Roots isn't just about skincare.

It's about community.

It's about trust.

It's about honoring the hands that came before ours.

And it's about creating products with ingredients—and relationships—we can proudly stand behind.

From our the Kinwell Roots family to the Cooper family, thank you for being part of the story.

Author's note: Our blog image show three generations of Cooper family farmers, but this legacy began generations prior. Susan has used the Calendula Comfort Whipped Balm on two grandkids with skin irritations with much success and has since started using the Lavender Tallow Soap for gentle cleansing for the grandbabies.
